  • How long will my salt last?
Our salts have a 2 year shelf life; in reality August Steak Salt (if unopened) can last over 10 years.
  • Can I use August Steak Salt in my regular salt grinder?
Yes. Although August Steak Salt is especially washed and dried to cook with red meat and poultry, it can also be used as a high quality, every day salt.
  • How much August Steak Salt should I use?
During your cooking prep, completely cover your steak or meat in August Steak Salt.
  • How long do I leave August Steak Salt on the meat before cooking?
The thickness of meat will affect the timing of the preparation: - For thin cuts under an inch, let the salt sit on the meat for 10 min. (skirt steak, flap…) - For medium cuts around 1-2 inches, let sit for 15 min. (rib-eye, NY strip, pork chops…) - For thicker cuts 2-3 inches, let sit for 25 min. (tomahawk…)
  • What meats are best to use August Steak Salt with?
August Steak Salt works well with many different meats besides steak. You can also use it to cook any red meat or poultry cuts - just shake off the salt during the final sear.
  • How long should I cook my steak for?
Exact time depends on multiple factors. Generally we recommend cooking 2-minutes per side with the salt, then removing the salt and cooking an final minute per side. That's total 6-minutes. When it comes to time, you want to play it safe- cooking less is always better than cooking more. You can always bring it back to the grill if you feel like it's not completely cooked.
  • How do I season my steak after cooking?
That's the beauty of the product- you don't need to add anything else! August Steak Salt is the only ingredient you need to cook the perfect, flavorful steak. The product is applied before cooking, not after. The salt will be fully removed before eating, and creates the perfect flavoring as part of the cooking process.
  • Can I use August Steak Salt for a longer cooking process like a big-cut or slow-cooking BBQ?
Definitely! Remember to still shake away all salt particles left by the end of your process! Our famous ribs are the perfect example of how to use August Steak Salt for big cuts or slow cooking meats.
  • Why do you recommend not to rest the steak after cooking?
There's no need to wait or rest the steak, as the juices were already locked in during this process. We recommend to cut and serve your steak while it's hot.
